Georgia quarterback Carson Beck shook off a slow start and a number of drops from his pass-catchers to take over the game. With top players Travis Etienne and Dillon Bell out with injuries, Beck spread the ball around to 10 pass-catchers for 346 yards and two touchdowns; he also added his first rushing score of the season. 

Tennessee managed to put together a few lengthy drives, but the Volunteers struggled to create any explosives. The Vols failed to complete a passing play of more than 20 yards and failed to score any points in the decisive second half. Running back Dylan Sampson posted 101 yards and a touchdown in the win, but quarterback Nico Iamaleava mustered only 167 yards through the air with zero touchdowns. 

Georgia sent a message with its final drive in the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs bled more than six minutes off the clock to travel 92 yards in 12 plays to reach the end zone. Beck and running backs Chauncey Bowens and Nate Frazier combined for every play of the drive. Beck's passes of 28 yards and 21 yards helped the Bulldogs get out of the shadow of their own end zone. 

Georgia is the first team this season to clear 20 points against Tennessee's defense. Previously, Arkansas's 19 points marked the highest scoring output against the Vols. 

The Bulldogs have a 6-6 record when facing a double-digit deficit over the past five seasons. The mark is tied with Alabama for the best winning percentage over the period. Utah is next among power-conference teams with a .350 mark. 

Iamaleava failed to reach 200 yards passing for the sixth time in seven SEC games. Last season, Tennessee's Joe Milton threw for at least 200 yards in six of eight games in SEC play. Iamaleava has yet to throw for 300 yards against any FBS opponent.

A close fight occurred at the start of the third round. Jon Jones was overwhelmed by the combination of punches thrown by Miocic. Jones also seemed to be avoiding more than responding.

This tactic seemed effective in reducing the opponent's strength. Even with a longer reach, the left jab and right hook he released made Miocic stagger, although he was still able to defend.

However, Miocic's resistance finally failed when the third round lasted 4 minutes 29 seconds. Starting with a round kick from Jon Jones that went straight into the left rib. Miocic appeared to be in pain and fell. In such conditions, Jon Jones immediately fired a number of punches.

Because there was no resistance from Miocic, Jon Referee Herb Dean stopped the fight and declared Jon Jones the TKO win.

After winning this fight, Jon Jones stated that he had no intention of retiring. He still wants to fight again after the duel against Miocic.

"I was able to talk to Dana White (UFC President) about the next fight. I also thank President Donald Trump for his presence," said Jon Jones after the fight.

On the other hand, Miocic stated that this duel would be his last fight in the UFC. "I'm done, I'm retiring."

Surveys indicate that Harris, the Democratic candidate, and Trump, the Republican, are virtually tied in the seven most contested states that election analysts consider crucial in determining the outcome of the election.

Former US President Donald Trump's victory in last week's 2024 election for another four-year term in the White House was sweeping.

Ahead of the November 5 national election, national polls show Vice President Kamala Harris with a narrow lead over Trump, perhaps a percentage point or two, depending on the survey.

Surveys indicate that Harris, the Democratic candidate, and Trump, the Republican, are virtually tied in the seven most contested states that election analysts consider crucial in determining the outcome of the election.

However, Trump captured all seven states, giving him a massive lead in the electoral votes in each state, 312 to 226, which determine the outcome of the US presidential election. The number of electoral votes needed to win the presidency is 270. He won all seven states by leads ranging from less than 1 percentage point in Wisconsin to more than 6 percentage points in Arizona.

On January 20, 2025, Trump, 78, will take office as the 47th president and the first president to win two non-consecutive terms since Grover Cleveland in the 1890s. He is the oldest president-elect in American history.

Trump also won the popular vote, the first Republican candidate to do so since former President George W. Bush in 2004.

Although the final ballots are still being counted, Trump has emerged as the clear winner, winning nearly 75 million votes so far, while Harris has won just under 71 million votes, a lead of 50.5 percent to Trump's 47.9 percent.

Trump's vote tally this year is nearly the same as the 74 million he received when he lost the 2020 election to Democrat President Joe Biden. Harris's vote tally is about 10 million fewer than Biden's then.

US pollsters often say that their surveys are just a snapshot in time, and cannot necessarily predict outcomes.

Yet, during Trump's three presidential runs since 2016, his approval rating has consistently been underestimated in polls, no matter how much pollsters have tried to adjust their published results to account for hidden support for Trump from people who are unwilling to say, even anonymously, that they will vote for Trump either in person or by mail.

Exit polls showed that women supported Harris and men supported Trump. More educated voters supported Harris, while those without a college degree favored Trump, but nearly two-thirds of Americans do not have a college degree.

In garnering his majority, Trump split two constituencies that typically support Democrats: black voters and Latino voters.

According to the Associated Press' VoteCast voter survey , 16 percent of Black voters support Trump in 2024, double his 2020 campaign. By comparison, 83 percent of Black voters support Kamala Harris, down from 91 percent who supported Biden in 2020.

Democrats are also losing support among Latino voters, with 56 percent backing Harris in 2024 compared to 63 percent for Biden in 2020. Support for Trump has increased from 35 percent four years ago to 42 percent this year

Ole Miss Football's Front Seven Was the Difference in Upset Win Over Georgia

 

The Ole Miss Rebels' defensive front played a huge role in their win over the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday.

The No. 16 Ole Miss Rebels came away with the biggest win of coach Lane Kiffin  and quarterback Jaxson Dart’s careers on Saturday as they took down the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs 28-10 at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, but it was not the offense that brought home this historic victory.

Instead, it was the front seven.

The defense was led on Saturday by a dominant performance in the trenches behind the Rebels' linemen and linebackers. The Ole Miss defensive line came away with all of five of the team's sacks and six of the nine tackles for loss recorded.

Ole Miss came into this game knowing it would be a run-heavy game plan for the Bulldogs in a rainy environment, and the defense seemed to execute almost flawlessly. The Rebels held the Bulldogs' No. 1 and 2 backs to 71 yards on 18 carries, and they held everyone else to negative yardage, netting the total rushing yards at 59 for Georgia.

The Rebels had multiple guys in the trenches that recorded big games, including Princely Umanmielen and Jared Ivey who recorded two sacks apiece and Suntarine Perkins who added one.

The defensive line was not alone as the linebackers joined the party as well, especially TJ Dottery and Chris “Pooh” Paul Jr. who led the team in tackles, combining for 19.

“I think Pooh makes me better,” Dottery said postgame. “The tenacity he brings, I have no choice but to match it.”

Part of this duo's "tenacity" was sparked by a record-setting crowd at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on Saturday night, one that provided a home field advantage for the Rebels in the much-needed win.

“With that crowd behind us, it just brings an adrenaline rush that’s unmatched,” Paul said. “I really mean it from the bottom of my heart; we really thank you for your support.”

With this win, the Rebels' chances of the reaching the College Football Playoff skyrocket.
